Homelessness Services

A core element of Partnership Solutions experience and knowledge is around homelessness services. The Homelessness Reduction Act which came into force on 3rd April 2018 brings a renewed approach to homelessness prevention within the sector.

A commitment to delivering effective frontline services that support people in housing crisis is crucial. Trish is actively supporting a number of authorities to prepare for the HRA, carrying out reviews of their staffing structures, their homeless prevention tools, temporary accommodation and supporting the pathway mapping to achieve robust homelessness prevention services.

Review of the homelessness service for Rutland County Council in 2009/2010

Trish Reed was commissioned to undertake the review of the homelessness service for Rutland County Council in 2009/2010. Her approach to the project was exceptional.

She worked in partnership with a range of key stakeholders including service users, facilitating a teamwork approach to the review. Rutland contracts out its homelessness, housing options and advice services so engagement with a wide range of service providers was essential. Trish takes a practical approach, delivering milestones to target in a co-operative and flexible way. The final report was eminently readable and positively received by Members. The proposed recommendations demonstrated her speedy assimilation of local needs and conditions.

My experience includes:

Homelessness Reviews – Service reviews of homelessness and associated services in several local authorities.
Homelessness Strategies – Developed numerous Housing and/or Homelessness Strategies producing robust action plans.
Reviews of temporary accommodation – Reviews of the type, location, use and cost of temporary accommodation can identify many areas for improvement with associated cost savings. Developing new provision in area is achievable through partnership working. Reducing the number of homeless families in bed and breakfast – transforming the Housing Service.
Restructures – Reviews of housing service structures. Working with senior managers to review operational and strategic capacity and assess whether they remain fit for purpose in light of national policy changes.
